PE
PE will take place every Monday and Friday. Please make sure you always have both an outdoor and indoor PE kit to hand as we will try to go outside as much as possible. Make sure you have suitable footwear for both.

Please bring your PE kit in on Monday and take it home on Friday. This means it will always be in school for PE lessons or if we have any extra sessions.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home every Friday. The children will be tested on these the following Friday. Throughout the week, you will learn the spelling rule for your spellings.
As part of your spelling test, there will also be a 'mystery spelling'. This is a spelling that you will not have taken home but will test your knowledge of how to apply the rule.

There are also 2 'bonus' words every week which are part of the 3/4 statutory spelling words.

Spelling Bee

In order to practise the Year 3/4 statutory spelling words, we will complete a Spelling Bee every half term which children will bring home. The children can then practise these spellings in order to have another go the following half term.

Reading

Children in Year 4 are expected to read a few pages of their reading book at home every evening. This could be independently or aloud to an adult. Their reading should be recorded and signed by an adult. Reading records should be brought into school every day so that we can read with you in school too. Reading records will be checked every week.

Times tables

By the end of Year 4, children should be able to instantly recall their times tables up to 12 x 12. In order to achieve this, we will practise times tables daily in a range of engaging and interesting ways.

It is important that children also practise times tables at home every day. This could be done it lots of different ways such as using TT Rock Stars or quick fire questions.

This year, we have our first times table leaders in class 4. They enjoy sharing their love of times tables with their peers and with other children across school!

We love trying to improve our studio speed on TTRS.
