More information for children in Class 4...

PE
PE will take place every Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure you always have both an outdoor and indoor PE kit to hand as we will try to go outside as much as possible. Make sure you have suitable footwear for both.

Please bring your PE kit in on Monday and take it home on Friday to get it washed. This means it will always be in school for PE lessons or if we have any extra sessions.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home every Friday. The children will be tested on these the following Friday. Throughout the week, you will learn the spelling rule for your spellings.
As part of your spelling test, there will also be a 'mystery spelling'. This is a spelling that you will not have taken home but will test your knowledge of how to apply the rule.

Spelling Bee

In order to practice the Year 3/4 statutory spelling words we will complete a Spelling Bee every half term which children will then bring home. The children can then practice these spellings in order to have another go the following half term.

Reading

Children in Year 4 are expected to read a few pages of their reading book at home every evening. This could be independently or aloud to an adult. Their reading should be recorded and signed by an adult. Reading records will be checked every week by Mrs Cooke.

Times tables

By the end of Year 4, children should be able to instantly recall their times tables up to 12 x 12. In order to achieve this, we will practice times tables daily in a range of engaging and interesting ways.

It is important that children also practice times tables at home every day. This could be done it lots of different ways such as using TT Rock Stars.
