Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We will be emailing letters out to parents on the 28th February introducing our new online system for booking appointments for Parents' evenings which will be taking place next Wednesday and Thursday.
The online booking system will be going live on Wednesday 1st March.
We will be having a burger day on Thursday 9th February instead of cottage pie. This dinner option should be changing shortly on your Meal Manager account. Thank you.
Please note meatballs will be replaced with burgers on Monday.
In a letter to headteachers, the DfE have said
“Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend
Children with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least 3 days, which is when they are most infectious.”
The latest Covid Self Isolation changes which came into effect from 17th January can be found under the Parents Section / Covid Files.
Dear parents/ carers
We have been contacted by Sky News about doing a piece showing our children returning to school tomorrow. They want it to be a positive news story about how much children are looking forward to seeing all their friends and school returning to more normality.
They will be including interviews with myself and some of the older children (year 6). If you definitely don’t want your child to be included in any returning to school images please can you let me know by emailing me at d.bradshaw@gawberschool.co.uk.
Any children whose parents shave requested don’t appear on any images will be automatically excluded.
Kind Regards
Dawn Bradshaw

COVID testing clarification
We have had a number of children who have been ill with COVID type symptoms- such as coughs and a high temperature. As a school, we have to follow the guidance set out by the DfE and Public Health England. This guidance is constantly changing but at the moment it stipulates that if a child has symptoms they must book online and have a full PCR test- a lateral flow test will not suffice. Whilst waiting for the test results, all family members should isolate. I understand that this can be very inconvenient for families but there have been a number of outbreaks in local schools and we are keen to prevent this happening at our school.
