By the time children leave Gawber, they will have acquired the linguistic knowledge needed to be successful at KS3 with regards to cultural capital and are able to make links to other subjects in the National Curriculum. They are curious with regards to language and continue to deepen their understanding of the world and enable our children to make connections.
Progress will be assessed using regular formative assessment in lessons through strategies such as questioning, regular retrieval practice, flashcards, independent learning tasks and assessment of pupils’ discussions. Teachers will use this assessment to provide further feedback or re-teach concepts where necessary to close gaps and ensure pupils have mastered the curriculum content.
